Texas Tech pushed the Longhorns to five sets in Lubbock.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball travels to Austin Wednesday for its second straight road match as it takes on No. 7 Texas in Gregory Gymnasium at 7 p.m. on Longhorn Network.

The Red Raiders (10-18, 0-13), who took a set against the Longhorns (19-4, 11-2) for the first time since 2010 in their meeting earlier this season, fell 0-3 at Oklahoma Saturday. Texas, meanwhile, is coming off its second loss in Big 12 play after dropping a five-set battle at Iowa State Saturday.

ON THE 40 ACRES
Texas (19-4, 11-2) is coming off a road loss Saturday at Iowa State by the score of 3-2 for its second loss in four matches after also falling at No. 4 Kansas in five sets. Still, Texas leads the Big 12 and ranks in the Top 10 nationally with a .290 hitting percentage led by junior Ebony Nwanebu's .356 hitting percentage, which ranks third in the league. Texas's size also allows it to enforce its will at the net as the Longhorns are second in the league at 2.53 blocks per set, just .01 behind West Virginia. Sophomore Morgan Johnson ranks third in the conference with 1.22 blocks per set.

Texas Tech dropped a hard-fought 27-25 first at Oklahoma and the Sooners used late runs to claim the second and third sets en route to a 3-0 (27-25, 25-18, 25-19) sweep of the Red Raiders in Norman. The Red Raiders held the Sooners to .250 hitting in the first set, but had trouble containing the Oklahoma attack in the second and third as the Sooners hit .419 and .333 in the next two stanzas. Senior Lauren Douglass led the Red Raiders in kills with 12, her 18th match of the season with double digit kills, while sophomore libero Reyn Akiu inched closer to the No. 2 spot on the school's single season digs list with 15 on the night to put her just 18th away from the second position.

Libero Reyn Akiu has burst onto the scene during her sophomore season and become the team's most consistent defensive performer. The Honolulu, Hawaii, native posted a career-high 33 digs a week ago against Baylor, moving her up to fourth on the school's single-season digs list. Akiu now has 493 for the season and is just 18 away from claiming the No. 2 spot on the list.
