Last weekend, the men's team racked up eight personal-bests at the New Mexico Team Invitational. Joseph Richards III posted the fifth-best time in Texas Tech history in the 400-meter dash. The senior flew around the track to a winning time of 46.39 seconds, putting him at fourth in the NCAA this season after adjustments for altitude. Kyle Collins placed second in the event at 46.84, which was also a PR.
Chris Caldwell continued his string of dominance in the 60-meter hurdles on Saturday. Caldwell charged down the track to a time of 7.78 seconds to pick up his third hurdle-final win this season to remain undefeated in 2016.
C.J. Jones recorded his second victory of the season in the 600 meters with a career-best of 1:17.67, breaking his previous mark of 1:17.99 set at the same venue in 2015.
The Red Raiders return to Albuquerque for the second of back-to-back weeks and their first two-day meet of the season at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Feb. 5-6 at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
