No. 44 Men's Tennis Swept at No. 9 TCU

The Red Raiders will look for their first Big 12 win at No. 8 Texas on Saturday.
FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 44 Texas Tech men's tennis team was handed a 4-0 defeat by No. 9 TCU in the second leg of its doubleheader Thursday at the Bayard H. Freidman Tennis Center.
TCU (15-4, 3-0 Big 12) protected its home court and first place in the Big 12 standings, while the Red Raiders (10-13, 0-3 Big 12) have dropped all three of their Big 12 decisions this season.
The Horned Frogs tucked away the doubles point behind a pair of 6-3 wins on courts one and three. Cameron Norrie and Trevor Johnson finished first against Jackson Cobb and Alex Sendegeya, while No. 59 Jerry Lopez and Reese Stalder upended No. 12 Connor Curry and Bjorn Thomson.
Texas Tech's Jolan Cailleau and Carlos DiLaura held a 4-3 advantage versus No. 29 Guillermo Nuñez and Alex Rybakov in the No. 2 position when doubles action was stopped.
TCU kept the momentum and went up 2-0 courtesy of Johnson's 6-1, 6-0 triumph against Jackson Cobb at the bottom of the lineup.
No. 3 Norrie followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win versus No. 33 Cailleau on the No. 1 singles line to push the Frogs edge to 3-0. It ended Cailleau's five-match winning streak at the top of the lineup.
Stalder capped the sweep for TCU courtesy of 6-2, 6-1 victory over Pyry Hyrkkonen at the No. 5 position.
Second sets were in the balance on courts two, three and four when play was halted. Thomson and Sendegeya were all square at 3-3 and 2-2 against No. 24 Rybakov and No. 83 Nuñez, respectively. Curry dialed up a 6-4, 2-1 lead on No. 121 Lopez.
