Men's tennis will feature their full squad for the second time this fall
LUBBOCK, Texas. – The Texas Tech men's tennis team will compete in the ITA Texas Regionals this weekend in the second full-team affair of the fall season.
The tournament, hosted by Baylor, will feature 14 teams from the state of Texas, including Abilene Christian, Lamar, Rice, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Incarnate Word, Texas, UTA, UTSA and UTRGV. The event will take place from Friday, Oct. 19 to Monday, Oct. 22 and will include both a singles and doubles bracket.
"This is a huge tournament," head coach Brett Masi said. "We want to have a good showing and see how we fare against some really tough competition, a few of which we'll be seeing again next semester. I've pushed the guys these past couple of weeks as we continue to prepare for the spring and I'm ready to see where we're at."
The Red Raiders will look to build upon their charge at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, where the singles participants picked up a trio of wins to complement a victory for the pairing of Bjorn Thomson and Parker Wynn in doubles play.
The ITA Texas Regionals will be available to stream online at https://baylorbears.com/sports/2018/9/18/tennis-playsight.aspx.
Tech will have a quick turnaround next week as they head to the left coast on Thursday, Oct. 25 for the SoCal Intercollegiates in Los Angeles.
