Tech Set for Senior Night Showdown vs. No. 5 Texas

500 free Red Out t-shirts; Fans wearing red receive $1 admission
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball closes its regular season home campaign Wednesday night as it welcomes No. 5 Texas (18-4, 13-1) to United Supermarkets Arena for a 6 p.m. first serve.

The program will be recognizing four Red Raider seniors after the match, which has been declared a Red Out. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free Red Out t-shirt while $1 admission will be granted for fans wearing red. A reminder that Texas Tech's clear bag policy is in effect.

The four-member senior class is the winningest senior class at Texas Tech since 2003. Included in the postgame ceremony will be three-year starter and current student assistant Sarah Redding, setter Kyndal Cowan, setter Missy Owens and middle blocker Katy Keenan.

The Red Raiders (17-11, 6-8) are coming off its second conference road win of the year, taking down Kansas State, 3-1, in the Little Apple last Saturday. Freshman sensation Brooke Kanas had a match-high 19 kills while Owens dished 45 assists to eclipse 1,000 assists for the third straight year. Junior Chandler Atwood also had a big night with 11 kills at a season-best .435 hitting with a season-high five blocks.

The Longhorns have won eight consecutive matches and have already clinched the 2018 Big 12 Championship. Winners of 13 of their last 14 overall, they are coming off a four-set victory over Baylor in Waco last Friday.

Texas won in straight sets against the Red Raiders in Austin as Micaya White recorded 17 kills on .654 hitting and Yaazie Bedart-Ghani added 16 kills at a .520 clip. Tech is looking to end a 35-match skid against UT with its last win coming in 2000.
