Red Raiders are coming off a third-place showing just a week ago in Utah

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's golf team will begin its second tournament in as many weeks Monday morning when the Red Raiders tee off at the Briars Creek Invitational hosted at the Golf Club at Briar's Creek in Johns Island, South Carolina.

This is the fifth-consecutive season Tech has traveled to the Briar's Creek Invitational as the Red Raiders claimed the tournament title in 2014 and finished third in 2015, eighth in 2016 and then seventh a year ago.

Tech enters this week's tournament as one of seven schools currently ranked in the top 55 of the latest Golfstat team rankings. The 17-team field also features No. 23 Illinois, No. 29 North Carolina, No. 37 East Carolina, No. 40 Campbell, No. 51 Old Dominion and No. 53 Coasting Carolina to go along with the Red Raiders, who are at No. 52 in the most recent computer rankings.

JoJo Robertson will use the same lineup that finished third just a week ago at the Entrada Classic in Utah as seniors Gabby Barker and Lauren Mason will be joined by junior Mami Yamamoto as well as freshmen Amy Taylor and Louisa Brunt.

Yamamoto and Mason are both coming off top-15 finishes as Yamamoto closed the event in a tie for 12th while Mason was a strong back in a tie for 15th overall. Taylor, meanwhile, sank six birdies during the final round to sign a 4-under-68 card, the lowest of her still young collegiate career.

Tech will be paired with Campbell and Illinois during Monday's 8 a.m. shotgun start that will be followed by a second 18 holes in the afternoon. Live scoring will be provided throughout the two-day event at www.Golfstat.com.
