Four More Red Raiders Bound for Nationals

Four additions to the finals lineup brings the total to 10 in the first two days of preliminaries.
SACREMENTO, Calif. – Day two of the NCAA West Preliminary punched four more Red Raider tickets to Eugene, Oregon.
Eric Kicinski was the first nationals qualifying performance of the day in the men's discus, posting a mark of 56.01m/183-9 with his first attempt.
The second ticket punched was by Divine Oduduru in the 100-meter dash. He ran a time of 10.33 to win his heat, while teammate Andrew Hudson turned in a time of 10.57.
Vincent Crisp solidified a spot at nationals in the 800-meter by winning his heat with a time of 1:48.00. Teammate C.J. Jones turned in a time of 1:48.73 to finish fourth in the same heat, falling just outside the qualifying line.
Norman Grimes was the fourth Red Raider to punch his ticket to Eugene, finishing second in his heat in the 400-meter hurdles. His time of 49.89 ranked fourth in Sacramento overall.
Four more Red Raiders advanced to Saturday's quarterfinals. Darien Tennon opened Friday's running events with a second-place finish in his heat of the 100-meter hurdles to secure his spot in the quarterfinals.
Kaylor Harris followed in the women's 100-meter hurdles by notching third in her heat with a time of 13.49 to lock up a spot for Saturday's quarterfinals.
Oduduru posted the fasted time in the 200-meter at 20.374 to win his heat and move on to Saturday's quarterfinals. He will be joined in the 200-meter by teammate Andrew Hudson, who finished second in his heat with a time of 20.85.
Tiffani Johnson was the final competitor to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals. She clocked a time of 23.56 in the 200-meters to claim the second-highest qualifying time.
Texas Tech will wrap up the NCAA West Preliminary meet on Saturday, starting with the men's javelin at 2 p.m. CT, featuring Werner Bouwer and Hunter Hopkins.
