Volleyball Set to Embark on California Road Trip

Red Raiders open the trip against undefeated Georgia on Friday.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball will play its next seven matches in the state of California, starting with the UCI/Adidas Invitational in Irvine, Calif, Friday-Saturday at the Bren Events Center.
The two-day event features a pair of familiar foes in Georgia, who Tech played last season in Athens, and UC Irvine, who Tech defeated on its run in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.

The Red Raiders open the event at 2:30 p.m. CT Friday against Georgia before squaring off with CSU Bakersfield at 6:30 p.m. CT. Tech closes out the tournament at 2 p.m. CT Saturday against host UC Irvine.

A LOOK AT THE OPPONENTS
- Georgia (3-0) finished 2017 with a record of 22-17 and 10-8 in the SEC. Georgia claimed a four-set win in Athens last season and returns T'ara Ceasar and Rachel Ritchie, who combined for 44 kills in the match.
- CSU Bakersfield enters with a 1-2 mark. This will be the first meeting between the two teams. The Roadrunners finished 19-14 in 2017 with a 9-5 record in the WAC.
- UC Irvine (1-2) finished 24-8 last season and 10-6 in the Big West. Tech defeated the Anteaters 3-1 in the NIVC Quarterfinals last season, outhitting them .336 to .140.
