Captains Named for Senior Night vs. K-State

Five seniors will represent Tech at the midfield coin toss, three more to stand at the numbers.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head coach Matt Wells announced Thursday this week's captains for Senior Night as the Red Raiders host Kansas State at 6 p.m. Saturday inside Jones AT&T Stadium in the 2019 home finale.
Of the 16 captains elected prior to the start of the season, the five senior captains - Jordyn Brooks, Travis Bruffy, Douglas Coleman III, Terence Steele and Broderick Washington Jr. - will represent the Red Raiders at midfield for the coin toss against the Wildcats.
This will be the first coin flip under Wells that Tech will send five players instead of four out to midfield. It is also the first time the game captains are all seniors.
In addition to the five captains, three more seniors will join the captains at midfield by standing at the numbers during the toss. Offensive lineman Madison Akamnonu, defensive lineman Quentin Yontz and tight end Donta Thompson will lineup at midfield behind the game captains.
Brooks, who ranks among the nation's leaders in tackles, solo tackles and tackles for a loss, will carry the Texas flag in his home finale, while junior tight end Travis Koontz will carry the U.S. flag as the Red Raiders run out of the tunnel.
