2021 SEASON (SUPER SENIOR)
Put together his best season as a Red Raider to conclude his collegiate career … saw action in 12 games with 10 starts, missing only the regular-season finale at Baylor due to injury … caught 21 passes for 306 yards and four touchdowns as a bigger factor in the passing game … shared the team high for touchdown receptions and ranked fourth overall for both receptions and receiving yards … became the first Red Raider tight end to at least share the team high in touchdown receptions since Texas Tech moved to a spread offense in 2000 … utilized on 432 snaps offensively and then 80 more via special teams, mainly on kick return (22) and field goal protection (52) … targeted 26 times on the season with 21 resulting in completions, an impressive 80.8 percentage that led all wide receivers and tight ends with at least 20 targets … caught at least one pass in eight games and had two or more four times … nine of his 21 catches went for at least 10 yards with four going for 20 or more yards … CAREER NUMBERS: wrapped his Red Raider career with 45 receptions for 647 yards and five touchdowns … averaged 14.4 yards per catch over his three-year career and 19.6 yards per game … SEASON HIGHLIGHTS: opened the season with four receptions for 28 yards in the win over Houston (9/4) … set career highs two weeks later against Florida International (9/18) with six catches and two receiving touchdowns … was the lone multi-touchdown performance of his career after finding the end zone from four yards out early in the second quarter and then again from the 1-yard line right before halftime … totaled 53 yards through the air in the win … had single-game catch performances at West Virginia (10/2), at Kansas (10/16), at Oklahoma (10/30) and against Kansas State (10/23) … reception against K-State resulted in 48 yards, giving the Red Raiders a key first down on their final drive before halftime on what was a 3rd-and-8 play … the Red Raiders ultimately settled for a Jonathan Garibay field goal as time expired for the half … closed the regular season with the first 100-yard outing of his career after finishing with five catches for 117 yards and a touchdown at Baylor (11/27) … performance was boosted by a 75-yard pass from Donovan Smith midway through the fourth quarter that matched the longest reception of his career … had another key catch in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl with a 39-yard reception in the win over Mississippi State that came on Texas Tech’s second drive of the second half … reception was followed two plays later by a Jerand Bradley 52-yard catch that set up a Red Raider touchdown, pushing the lead to 20-7 midway through the quarter … had two catches for 41 yards overall in the bowl win … AWARDS AND HONORS: received honorable mention All-Big 12 accolades by the conference coaches … selected to play in the Hula Bowl following the season.
2020 SEAS0N (SENIOR)
Took over as the Red Raiders’ starting tight end in his second season as a Red Raider … praised by the coaching staff for his effectiveness in the run game … appeared in nine games overall, all starts, with the lone exception being the season finale against Kansas (12/5) … caught 14 passes on the yar for 189 yards and a touchdown … had at least one reception in all but one game overall … two of his catches went for at least 20 yards … SEASON HIGHLIGHTS: began the year with one catch for nine yards in the season-opening victory over Houston Baptist (9/12) … followed with two catches for 12 yards in the Big 12 opener against Texas (9/26) … snapped his career high with three catches, resulting in 39 yards through the air at Kansas State (10/3) … hauled in one catch for seven yards in the win over West Virginia (10/24) … biggest play of his career came in the second quarter against Oklahoma (10/31) as he hauled in a Henry Colombi pass over the middle and raced 75 yards into the end zone … marked the longest catch of his career and matched the longest play from scrimmage by a Red Raider all season … followed with two catches for 16 yards the next week at TCU (11/7) … logged another explosive play in the win over Baylor (11/14) with one catch for 21 yards … matched his career high for receptions in his final outing of the season at Oklahoma State (11/28) after hauling in three passes for 10 yards … SENIOR DECISION: elected to the Red Raiders for a final year of eligibility as granted by the NCAA.
2019 SEASON (JUNIOR)
Saw significant time at tight end in his first season as a Red Raider … appeared in all 12 games overall, hauling in 10 receptions for 152 yards on the year … bulk of catches came during Big 12 play … proved he could be an explosive play threat with three catches for at least 25 yards … also a regular on several of Texas Tech’s special teams units … SEASON HIGHLIGHTS: opened the season with two receptions and 19 yards against Montana State (8/31) … pulled in a 25-yard grab late in the third quarter of Texas Tech’s top-25 win over Oklahoma State (10/5) … caught one pass for 13 yards at Baylor (10/12) … his best performance of the season came on the road at Kansas (10/26) with two receptions for a season-high 39 yards … performance included a 32-yard haul early in the second quarter that eventually led to a touchdown … marked his longest reception of the season … hauled in a long pass for 24 yards in a win at West Virginia (11/9) … reception came early in the second quarter, eventually leading to a touchdown for a 35-10 lead … managed two catches for 25 yards at Kansas State (11/23) … closed the year with one catch for seven yards in the regular-season finale at Texas (11/29).
