February 15, 2020 | Women's Basketball
MORGANTOWN, W. Va.  – The Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team came up short in its first meeting of the season with West Virginia, falling, 67-60, at WVU Coliseum.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Raiders were led by Brittany Brewer, who recorded 12 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks. Andrayah Adams recorded her fifth-straight game in double figures with 15 points. Junior Sydney Goodson added seven points, eight rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.
Â
After trailing, 18-8, with under two minutes to go in the opening quarter, Adams scored a quick seven points in the final 1:24 of the period to pull the Lady Raiders within three after the first 10 minutes of the game. Tech stretched that run to 14-0 in the first two-and-a-half minutes of the second quarter to take a 22-18 lead.
Â
The Lady Raiders held the Mountaineers scoreless for the first 3:27 of the second quarter and would lead most of the frame, but seven unanswered points by West Virginia in the final minute-plus of the half left Tech down, 33-29, heading into the locker room.
Â
Tech was able to take the lead briefly in the third quarter and had its chances in the fourth, but struggled to hit shots down the stretch in the final quarter and West Virginia came up with the win.
