LADY RAIDER RECAP: Kansas State 84, Texas Tech 70

MANHATTAN, Kan.  – The Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team dropped a tough one on the road on Wednesday night, falling at Kansas State, 84-70.

HOW IT HAPPENED
For the second-straight game, Tech had five players in double figures, led by Chrislyn Carr with 16 points, seven assists and a season-high-tying seven rebounds. Freshman Alexis Tucker had 14 points, and Jo'Nah Johnson had 13 points and three assists. Brittany Brewer wound up with 12 points and seven rebounds, and Andrayah Adams finished with 12 points, five rebounds and three assists.

The Lady Raiders got 10 points from Brewer in the opening 10 minutes to help the team lead, 19-18, after the first quarter. It was a team effort as four other Lady Raiders contributed buckets in the first period, and Goodson had five of Tech's 11 rebounds in the frame.

Texas Tech was able to expand its lead in the second quarter, finishing the period on a 15-2 run—including eight unanswered over the final minutes of the half to lead, 38-30 heading into the locker room. Johnson scored six in the quarter, including a four-point play after getting fouled on a made three.

Kansas State bit back in the third quarter, outscoring Tech, 23-17, to cut the Lady Raider lead to two. Carr scored eight in the quarter and Tucker had six to help hold the Wildcats off.

However, in the fourth quarter, Kansas State went on a run the Lady Raiders weren't able to withstand, as the Wildcats came back for the victory.

NOTABLE
- For the first time this season, Texas Tech went with the starting five of Chrislyn Carr, Andrayah Adams, Sydney Goodson, Lexi Gordon and Brittany Brewer. The Lady Raiders moved to 0-1 this season when deploying this starting five.
- Senior Brittany Brewer had 10 points in the first quarter to help the Lady Raiders lead by one after the first quarter.
- The Lady Raiders ended the first half on a 15-2 run, including eight unanswered, to stretch their lead to eight (38-30) after the opening 20 minutes. It marked the team's largest lead to that point.
- All seven Lady Raiders that saw action in the first half scored, including five that scored four or more points.
- For the second-straight game and seventh time this season, five Lady Raiders scored in double figures.
- Sophomore Chrislyn Carr recorded seven rebounds to tie her season high.
