LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team dropped its game against No. 24 West Virginia on Wednesday, 73-53, at United Supermarkets Arena
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Raiders were led by Vivian Gray, who recorded her second-straight double-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, a pair of assists, two steals and a block on the night. Gray was big in the second half for the Lady Raiders, adding 13 points and eight rebounds in the final 20 minutes of the game.
Lexi Gordon and Maka Jackson were both a bucket and a couple of boards away from double-doubles of their own, with Gordon scoring 11 with eight rebounds, and Jackson adding seven points and a career-high eight boards.
For the fourth-straight game, Tech held its opponent under 40 percent shooting from the floor, but couldn't get its offense going as the game wore on. After a tight first quarter, the Mountaineers shot 8-of-14 in the second quarter to stretch their lead heading into halftime.
Coming out of the locker room, the Lady Raiders hung tough for much of the third period, but a 6-0 run late from the Mountaineers expanded the deficit once again.
