Red Raiders Finish Eighth at ICON Invitational

Amy Taylor was Texas Tech’s highest finisher at the ICON Invitational in a tie for 29th place
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's golf team finished in eighth place after combining to shot 4-over Tuesday in the final round of the ICON Invitational at the Golf Club of Houston.
As a team, the Red Raiders finished at 5-over-par 869 for the tournament after combining for a 4-over 292 final round Tuesday, their highest of the 54-hole event. Tech trailed North Texas by four strokes for sixth place and host Houston by two swings for seventh.
Amy Taylor was the highest-individual finisher for Tech's lineup in a tie for 29th after signing a final round card of 1-over 73, concluding the tournament at 2-over. Sofia Garcia was only one stroke back of Taylor in a tie for 32nd at 3-over for the tournament after an even-par final round.
Anna Dong matched Taylor with a 1-over final round, pushing her into a tie for 36th overall at 4-over for the event. She was followed by Gala Dumez and Cecilie Nielsen in a tie for 48th following 2-over and 9-over final rounds, respectively.
Baylor claimed the team title after combining for a 12-under final round, easily the lowest score of the tournament, that pushed the Bears to 24-under overall, five stokes better than second place LSU. Oklahoma State followed at 10-under, while TCU was the last team to finish under-par at 3-under. Northwestern rounded out the top-5 at even-par.
Tech will resume its spring slate March 9-10 when the Red Raiders travel to San Antonio for the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational hosted by UTSA at the San Antonio Country Club.
