RED RAIDER QUICK HITS
- Senior pitcher Erin Edmoundson was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week following a 2-0 outing on opening weekend in which she allowed just two earned runs and two extra base hits in three appearances with 14 strikeouts. Edmoundson held Texas A&M to three hits, shutting out the heart of the lineup on the way to Tech's 2-1 win over the Aggies. She closed out the tournament with a one-hit shutout of Colorado State in which she fanned five batters.
- Head Coach Sami Ward picked up her first win as Tech head coach in the opening game of the Texas A&M Invitational in a 3-1 9 inning victory over Colorado State last Saturday. The win also marked the fourth straight opening day win for Texas Tech.
- The Red Raiders defeated Texas A&M 2-1 for the first time since 2012 and the first time in College Station since 2007 thanks to a two-run seventh inning. Tech was down to its last strike when Heaven Burton put a ball in play that was mishandled by the Aggie third basemen allowing two runs to score.
- A pair of freshmen contributed significantly to Texas Tech's scoring on opening weekend. Riley Love and Arriana Villa each recorded their first hit in their first collegiate plate appearances. Villa double to left field in her first at bat while Love's RBI single to left put Tech up early on Colorado State. Love and Villa each finished opening weekend with two RBI to lead the squad. Love hit a team-best .308 on the weekend with four hits and just one strikeout.
- North Dakota State and Texas Tech have met once in program history, a 3-0 win for NDSU in 2008.
- The Red Raiders have not played Arkansas since 2003 when the Razorbacks won a 3-2 decision over Tech. Arkansas holds the series lead with five wins, compared to Tech's two.
- Saturday marks the first ever meeting between Texas Tech and SEMO.
