LADY RAIDER PREVIEW: No. 7 Baylor

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team opens a two-game homestand this Wednesday when the team hosts No. 7 Baylor at United Supermarkets Arena. The Lady Raiders and Lady Bears tip off at 6 p.m. Wednesday on ESPN+.

LADY RAIDER QUICK HITS
- Texas Tech senior Vivian Gray enters Wednesday's game with 1,998 points for her entire career, including DI and DII, and can reach the 2,000 benchmark with two points on Wednesday. Gray became one of 20 active players to reach 1,500 points in her DI career last month against Texas in only 77 games.

- Lady Raider seniors Vivian Gray and Lexi Gordon have proven themselves as one of the top scoring tandems in the nation. Both rank in the top 13 of the Big 12 in scoring. Gray and Gordon, both coming off 20-point performances at Iowa State, are also two of the six players in the Big 12 who have recorded seven or more 20-point games this season.

- Last Saturday against Iowa State, junior Bryn Gerlich tied her career high in scoring with 10 points against the Cyclones. Gerlich is averaging career highs in minutes, scoring, rebounding, assists, blocks and steals this season.

THE SERIES
- The Lady Raiders and Lady Bears will be meeting for the 96th time in the two program's histories on Wednesday.
- Tech is 47-48 against Baylor all-time, and 25-16 against the Lady Bears in Lubbock.
- Tech still owns the longest win streak in the series, winning 39-straight against Baylor from 1984 to 2002.
- Baylor won the first matchup of the season in Waco back in the conference opener in December.
- Last season, Tech was the only team in the conference to play Baylor within 15 points twice.

ABOUT THE BEARS
The Baylor Lady Bears (14-2, 9-1 Big 12) have won six-straight games coming into Wedhesday's game against the Lady Raiders--most recently a 64-52 victory at Kansas State on Sunday. Baylor is led in scoring and rebounding by Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year NaLyssa Smith, who averages 17.6 points and 10.0 rebounds per game to rank top 10 in the conference in both categories. As a team, the Lady Bears lead the conference in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals and scoring defense, among other categories. Head coach Kim Mulkey is in her 20th season at helm of the Baylor program.

LAST TIME OUT
The Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team fell, 92-73, at Iowa State on Saturday afternoon at Hilton Coliseum.

Hot starts in the first and second halves for Iowa State proved to be the difference in the game Saturday. The Lady Raiders hung tough, even outscoring the Cyclones in the fourth quarter, but it wouldn't be enough.

Texas Tech was led by two 20-point scorers in Vivian Gray and Lexi Gordon. Gray led all scorers with 26 points for her second 20-piece in as many games, and her 10th 20-point game of the season. Gray shot 10-of-18 from the field, and also had six rebounds, an assist and a block. Gordon had 23 points for her seventh game of 20-plus points this season. The senior had five rebounds, a pair of assists and a block as well.

Bryn Gerlich tied her career high in scoring and got into double digits offensively for the first time this season. Gerlich finished with 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal.
