Red Raiders Set for Trio of Matches in DFW

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech (7-12) will travel to the Dallas-Fort Worth area to face North Texas (8-9) and SMU (8-4) this week for a trio of matches starting Wednesday evening in Denton.

The Red Raiders will play a midweek match against the Mean Green Wednesday at 5 p.m. before traveling down the road to Dallas for a pair of matches at SMU on Friday and Saturday.

Tech looks to build off their strongest offensive outing of the season last week at Tarleton State in which the Red Raiders hit .364 as a team on the way to a 3-1 win over the Texans. Senior Samantha Sanders notched her seventh double-double of the season (15 kills/12 digs) to lead the way for Tech. Meanwhile, freshman Maddie O'Brien had a breakout match in her first start as a middle blocker with a career-best 13 kills and four blocks while posting a .619 hitting clip. Setter Alex Kirby tied her season-high with 52 assists while adding eight kills, six digs, one block and one ace to her stat sheet.

The Red Raiders are 21-1 all time against North Texas, last meeting up with the Mean Green in Denton in 2017. Tech won the match in four sets.

Texas Tech holds a 7-2 record against SMU, last meeting in 2017 in which the Red Raiders swept the Mustangs in the first round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship. The Red Raiders would advance to the NIVC finals that year.
