Lady Raiders Tennis Falls at Iowa State

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's tennis team dropped a tough match at No. 43 Iowa State on Friday, falling 4-3.

Down two players in their singles lineup and one in doubles, the Lady Raiders battled, but came up just short to the Cyclones. The match opened in doubles, where the Lady Raiders fielded a new lineup but fell short to the Cyclones who won on courts one and three to take the early, 1-0 advantage over Tech.

The Cyclones jumped out to a 3-0 lead in singles with wins on the four and six lines before Tech responded with a pair of wins of their own.

Nell Miller snagged the first win of the day for the Lady Raiders, winning her fourth-straight match in a 6-1, 6-3 win on court three over Iowa State's Christin Hsieh. It moved Miller to 9-3 in dual singles matches this season.

Tech's Bojana Marinkov got her second win of the dual season to cut the deficit to 3-2. Marinkov knocked off Chie Kezuka, 6-3, 6-4, on court five.

Margarita Skriabina tied the match up, remaining perfect on the dual season with a 7-6, 6-2 victory on court two. Skriabina is now 11-0 in dual singles matches this year and 2-0 on the No. 2 singles line.

Lisa Mays would come up just short of completing the comeback for the Lady Raiders, dropping her match to Thasaporn Naklo, 2-6, 7-5, 6-2.

Tech will be back in action this Sunday at 9 a.m. CT at West Virginia.
