RED RAIDER QUICK HITS
- Texas Tech will stay at home for the entire month of March after spending the first two weeks of the season on the road. Tech opened the home slate with a doubleheader against RV Texas State on Wednesday, splitting the series with the Bobcats after taking game two.
- After hitting zero home runs through the first five games of the season the Red Raider bats have come alive hitting four home runs in the last two games and seven over the last eight games. Alanna Barraza started the long ball party hitting the first two home runs of the season at the Razorback Invitational, and the first of her career. Zoe Jones followed suit with a home run of her own in Fayetteville. On Wednesday, Kelcy Leach started things off with a two-run shot, her first hit of the season. Later in the game Jones found her second home run of the season and Peyton Blythe followed up with a home run of her own in the same inning. Freshman Kennedy Crites hit her first collegiate long ball in game two of the doubleheader, a three-run blast to center field.
- Leach continues to mow down runners throwing out 6-of-9 runners attempting to steal on her this season and adding a pick off against Texas State to her stat line. The senior catcher is quickly approaching her season-high mark of 10 from 2019.
- Sixth year senior Karli Hamilton is making the most of her victory lap season with the Red Raiders. Hamilton leads the team in batting average hitting .382 with 13 hits, second most on the squad. She has reached base in all but one game she has hit in this season and leads the team with two triples.
- The Red Raiders have dominated the series against both squads holding a 13-3 record against Abilene Christian and a 12-1 record against Kansas City. Tech last played the Wildcats in 2018, earning a 10-2 five-inning win at home in Lubbock. The Red Raiders have not played the Roos since 2015 when Texas Tech defeated Kansas City 9-6 in Arlington, Texas.
- Texas Tech is one win away from 200 wins at Rocky Johnson Field. The Red Raiders hold a 199-161 record at home since the stadium's opening on March 29, 2001 when Tech defeated No. 20 Texas A&M 1-0 in 10 innings.
