
Red Raiders Travel to Norman to Face Top-Ranked Sooners

Texas Tech will take on No. 1 Oklahoma in a three-game series April 24-25
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech (18-20, 2-10 Big 12) will face its toughest test of the season when the Red Raiders travel to Norman to face No. 1 Oklahoma (34-1, 9-0 Big 12) April 24-25 at Marita Hynes Field.
Due to severe weather in Norman expected on Friday the game originally scheduled for April 23 has been moved to a double-header on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The Red Raiders are coming off their first conference series win of the season after taking two games from Kansas last weekend in Lawrence. Meanwhile, the Sooners are undefeated in conference play with sweeps over Iowa State, Kansas and No. 9 Texas. Oklahoma enters the weekend after having its 40-game win streak snapped Tuesday night against No. 21 Georgia during a midweek double-header in Athens.

- Missy Zoch and Yvonne Whaley were named Big 12 Pitcher and Co-Player of the Week on April 20 after helping the Red Raiders secure the series win against Kansas last weekend. Zoch earned the award for the second time this season while Whaley earned her first Big 12 honor of her career. Whaley shared the award with Oklahoma's Tiare Jennings.
- The Red Raider pitching staff combined for 36 strikeouts last weekend against Kansas including a couple of career high performances from Zoch and Erin Edmoundson. Zoch tossed a career-best and program record 16 strikeouts in game one of the series after 8.0 innings of work in the circle. She added another seven strikeouts in the series finale in another 8.0 innings of work. Edmoundson bested her career mark with 13 strikeouts in game two.
- Karli Hamilton continues her hot streak for the Red Raiders, the super senior added two more home runs last weekend for her team-leading seven long balls on the season. Hamilton leads the team in home runs (7), RBI (30), total bases (63), walks (15) and triples (2). She is second on the team in doubles (5) and third in batting average (.320), hits (33) and stolen bases (5).
- The Red Raiders are 1-8 all time against top-ranked teams. Tech's one win over a No. 1 team came in a 6-0 win over Arizona in Tucson in 1998.
- The Sooners have dominated the series against Texas Tech winning 56 of 63 meetings including 23 in a row dating back to 2012. The last Red Raider win came in Norman in 2012 when Tech defeated Oklahoma 5-4. The current losing streak to the Sooners is the longest in program history against any one team.
