Track & Field starts indoor season hosting the Corky Classic

The Corky Classic kicks off with the field events at 3:30 p.m.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field program will kick off its 2022 season hosting the Corky Classic (Jan. 14-15) for a fifth consecutive year, beginning Friday afternoon inside the Sports Performance Center.
Four returners were dubbed with indoor First Team All-American honors in Ruth Usoro, Jalen Seals, Kayli Johnson, and Monae' Nichols. Usoro swept the Big 12 Indoor triple jump and long jump titles as she went on to be crowned the national champion at the NCAA Indoor meet in the triple jump. Her run continued in the outdoor portion of the season which saw her claim the Big 12 title in the triple jump and at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Meanwhile, Seals comes back as the reigning Big 12 indoor champion in the long jump as he went on to place eighth at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

The start of the indoor season marks the 23rd season at the helm for head track and field coach Wes Kittley. The Red Raiders are coming off a 2021 indoor season which saw the men's program finish second in the Big 12, just 14 points shy of the title.
