The Texas Tech men's tennis team overcame an early 2-0 deficit to rally and defeat An undefeated SMU team on the road, 4-3. With strong performances from Dimitrios Azoidis and Reed Collier, the Red Raiders managed to even the score. SCOUTING THE WILDCATS:
Arizona enters ITA Kickoff Weekend 2-1. The Wildcats upset the 5th ranked Texas Longhorns earlier this year in a thriller. Senior Jonas Ziverts and Sophomore Gustaf Storm both won their singles matches in straight sets, sealing the upset, 4-3.
HEAD COACH DANNY WHITEHEAD:
"This weekend is a great opportunity for us. We're playing in one of the toughest sites in the ITA Tournament. Each of the four teams in our site can win the pool if they play well. We have things we can improve on after last weekend's match at SMU, but we're excited for the opportunity to face Arizona to start it off. We know we're going to get to face two top-25 programs this weekend, so we're going there with the mindset that we can beat any of the three teams we could face. But this provides two great opportunities for us."
UP NEXT:
The Red Raiders return to action on Feb. 5 when they travel to Salt Lake City to face Loyola Marymount on Feb. 5 at noon, and Utah on Feb. 6.
If victorious, the Red Raiders will advance to the Round of 32 against the winner of No. 19 Texas A&M and No. 23 UCLA on Sunday.
