Tech now gets two weeks off before hosting the Big 12 Championship (Oct. 28)
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Edward Rush turned in a personal best time in the 8k as he finished sixth individually at the annual Arturo Barrios Saturday morning.
The men placed fifth out of 41 teams while the women finished 16th out of 38 teams.
"I am proud of both teams for this race," said head coach Jon Murray. "It was a strong effort by both teams with several personal bests. It's encouraging to see the progress that is being made."
Rush crossed the end line at 23:54.70 to pace the men's squad, crushing his previous PB time (24:46.50). Matthew Maki placed 40th with a time of 24:41.80 as Isaac Hernandez finished 55th (24:50.40). Trey Leathers (25:12.10) and Samuel Ashley (25:13.10, PB) placed 86th and 90th to complete the scoring for Tech. For Freshmen Hernandez and Leathers, both times were season bests for the 8k.
"(Rush) had a monster race. He was patient with his pacing and ran an extremely smart race," said Murray. "This is just an example of what we've been doing in his practice. It was an exciting race to waatch."
It's the third-straight meet that Rush and Rahmaan lead their respective teams in scoring.
