Red Raiders take on Cyclones in Ames

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech volleyball team (14-11, 3-9 Big 12) travels to Ames, Iowa for a match against the Iowa State Cyclones, who are receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll, on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m.
The Red Raiders went to Norman, Okla., on Wednesday, Nov. 9 to face the Oklahoma Sooners. In the tough, 3-2 loss, Reagan Cooper posted a career-high of 25 kills, while Kenna Sauer and Reese Rhodes collected double-doubles. Rhodes also added a career-high of 60 assists making it the first time since Sept. 20, 2014 when a Red Raider had 60 or more assists in a match.
KJ Adams almost had a career-high in digs when she tallied 29, and Brooke Kanas totaled a career-best eight blocks and a season-high of 16 slams. Kanas now has 1,076 career kills and only needs seven to rank fifth in program history.
Karrington Jones also recorded three blocks in the match which pushed her career total to 329, elevating her to ninth all-time in school history.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Cyclones hold an all-time 25-31 record over the Red Raiders, winning their match earlier in the season by a 3-0 score on Oct. 21 in Lubbock. But, the Red Raiders have won five of the last nine matches against the Cyclones. Iowa State has a 17-9 record overall and an 8-4 Big 12 record. On Oct. 19, Iowa State gave the No. 1 Texas Longhorns their first and only defeat of the season by a 3-2 score.
Iowa State totals 1,296 kills (12.6 kills per set), 1,214 assists, 135 aces, 1,414 digs and 258.5 blocks on the season. Offensively, Eleanor Holthaus leads the Cyclones in points (364.5), kills (318) and aces (22). Both Jaden Newsome and Morgan Brandt lead in assists with 593 and 444, respectively. On the defensive end, Brooke Stonestreet posts a team-leading 431 digs, more than double the number of digs as the next person. In addition, Alexis Engelbrecht has a team-high 115.0 blocks.
