Wildcats up next for Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas – Following a sweep of the West Virginia Mountaineers last weekend, the Texas Tech Red Raiders (15-12, 4-10 Big 12) travel to Manhattan, Kan. for a match against the Kansas State Wildcats on Wednesday, November 23 at 6:30 p.m. in Bramlage Coliseum.
The Red Raiders are reaching many milestones this season, with more on the horizon. Setter Reese Rhodes is close to totaling 1,000 assists on the season as she has 941 right now. Sophomore libero Maddie Correa needs just six digs to reach the 500 career digs mark.
By appearing in tomorrow's match, fifth-year senior Brooke Kanas would be playing in her 135th career match, which ranks third in program history. She also already ranks fifth with 1,091 career slams.
Karrington Jones keeps moving up the record book in blocks as she totals a career 336 blocks to now rank eighth in program history. She only needs one more to rank seventh, three more to rank sixth and seven more to rank fifth in school history.
Altogether, the Red Raiders are hitting .236 on the season and tally 1,332 kills. They also total 1,228 assists, 124 aces, 1,492 digs and 243.5 blocks.
Offensively, Kenna Sauer leads the team with 399 kills and 441.5 points, Maddie O'Brien has a team-best 39 aces and Kanas leads with a 310 hitting clip. On the defensive side, Kanas also leads with 103.0 blocks, while Correa has a team-high 322 digs.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Kansas State holds an all-time 15-42 record against Texas Tech. However, the Red Raiders snapped a five-match losing streak to the Wildcats when they swept K-State in Lubbock, 3-0, on September 28. The Wildcats are 14-13 overall with a 5-9 conference record. Kansas State is on a two-match losing streak after dropping their matches to Oklahoma and TCU but defeated both West Virginia and Iowa State before that.
As a team, the Wildcats are hitting .210 while holding opponents to a .198 hitting clip. They total 1,270 kills, 1,173 assists, 172 aces, 1,424 digs and 261.0 blocks. On the offensive end, Elena Baka leads the team with 279 kills and 326.5 points. Loren Hinkle posts a team-leading 931 assists while Sydney Bolding has a team-best 38 aces. Defensively, Mackenzie Morris totals a team-high of 455 digs and Bolding leads with 130.0 blocks.
