Red Raiders set for NCAA Regionals
November 09, 2022 | Cross Country
TTU played host to the Big 12 Championships on Oct. 28.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech cross country team travels to Albuquerque, N.M., for the NCAA Mountain regionals Friday morning at the UNM North Golf Course.
How It Works
The top two teams in each regional race this weekend secure an automatic bid into the NCAA Championships. Meanwhile, the four regional finishers not from an automatic qualifying or at-large team also obtain an auto-bid to the championships.
If a team doesn't secure an automatic bid, it will have to rely on the NCAA DI Cross Country Subcommittee to select it as one of the 13 at-large teams.
In each region, the women run in a 6k race, while the men run in a 10k race.
The Mountain Region proves to be one of the toughest if not the top region in the entire nation. On the women's side, there are seven nationally ranked teams, while the men's side boasts six ranked programs. In the latest Mountain Region rankings, the Texas Tech men slid one spot to No. 15.
