With the loss, Texas Tech saw its six-match win streak snapped
MESA, Ariz. – Texas Tech men's tennis saw its six-match win streak snapped Saturday afternoon, when the 33rd-ranked Red Raiders fell to the Arizona State 4-1 at the Kiwanis Tennis Center.
Junior Dimitrios Azoidis improved to 10-2 on the season Saturday, delivering the lone Texas Tech (11-6) point. Azoidis cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Arizona State (5-8) used the early momentum from winning the doubles point to earn a trio of straight set victories on court two, three and four.
Charlotte transfer Olle Wallin suffered a loss for Texas Tech on court four, falling one and two. The loss by the Swedish-born Wallin was his first in nine matches and saw a personal six-match winning streak, ended.
Prior to today, Wallin's last loss was Feb. 6 against Utah. Wallin is now 7-4 on the season.
Junior Isaac Arevalo was leading in his match when the match was decided. Arevalo won an opening-set tiebreaker 8-6 and was up a break when play was called.
Franco Ribero was down a set and was on serve in the second when the Sun Devils clinched the match.
