Texas Tech tees off at the Trinity Forest Invitational at 8 a.m. Monday morning in Dallas
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 23 Texas Tech women's golf program will return to tournament play Monday when the Red Raiders tee off at the Trinity Forest Invitational Monday morning in Dallas. The two-day, 54-hole event will be held at Trinity Forest Golf Club, the former home of the PGA Tour's AT&T Byron Nelson Invitational.
The Red Raiders will be the highest-ranked school in the 15-team field that features a selection of regional opponents. Texas Tech has become a regular at the tournament in recent years as the Red Raiders closed the 2019 fall event as the team runner-up before finishing fifth overall last spring.
Both previous finishes resemble Texas Tech's start to its spring slate as the Red Raiders wrapped the Columbia Classic in second place followed by a fourth-place showing nearly two weeks ago at the ICON Invitational in Houston. Head coach JoJo Robertson's program has finished among the top-five teams in five of its seven tournaments thus far.
Amy Taylor has played a critical role in Texas Tech's success as the reigning Big 12 Golfer of the Month has turned in a pair of runner-up showings to open the spring slate. Taylor is coming off one of her best scores of her collegiate career at the ICON Invitational as she signed for a 6-under-par 66 final round that matched her career low.
As a team, Taylor's round helped the Red Raiders snap the school record for lowest 18-hole card after a 16-under 272 round, breaking the previous mark by a full two strokes. Taylor also matched the Texas Tech 54-hole individual record with a 14-under 202 final card that tied the previous record set by teammate Gala Dumez at last spring's Big 12 Championships.
Taylor and Dumez will be back in the lineup for Robertson this week and will be joined by freshmen Libby Fleming and Chiara Horder as well as junior Cecilie Nielsen. Fellow freshman Kylee Loewe and junior Anna Dong will both play as individual participants.
The Red Raiders will be paired with host SMU, UNLV and UTSA during the opening two rounds Monday. Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament at www.Golfstat.com.
