
Throws highlight first day of Masked Rider Open

Seasons Usual has placed first in each meet this season in the discus
LUBBOCK, Texas – The discus and shot put crew kicked off the first day Masked Rider Open Friday afternoon
In the finals of the men's discus, Gabe Oladipo led the way for the Tech men as he launched a season-best throw of 58.94m to walk away as the winner. That throw puts him right at No. 10 in the country. Meanwhile, Jacob Mechler turned in a fourth place outing with a PR throw of 53.86m.
Seasons Usual made some noise over in the women's discus taking first with a throw of 59.49m. It was a season-best toss for her and bumped her current No. 1 mark in the country (20th in the world) even further – previously 58.50m. It also becomes the fifth best throw in Tech history. Malin Smith placed third as she registered two new PRs, finishing with a best throw of 54.70m as Kayli Johnson claimed fourth at 51.82m.
TTU closes out the Masked Rider Open Saturday with the pole vault starting at 1 p.m. for the Red Raiders.

In the first flight of the men's discus, Gary Haasbroek made his outdoor debut and tossed a new PR on his second throw which registered at 39.51m. Denim Rogers and Cole Whatley recorded back-to-back PRs on their final two throws. Rogers finished at 38.43m while Whatley finished at 33.71m. Oladipo took his momentum into the shot put and claimed first with a throw of 17.70m – it was his first time this outdoor season competing in the shot put. Over on the women's side, Kayli Johnson led the Red Raiders with a second place outing at 15.93m. Smith placed fourth (15.02m), Field Gatlin fifth (13.89m) and Baylee Thompson eighth (12.81m) to round out the top 10.Whoa, but not really? It's Seasons ??
