
Distance debut, Multis finish Mt. Sac Relays

It’s the earliest all year the Red Raiders have competed in a running event
WALNUT, Calif. – The Texas Tech track and field team competed in the distance portion of the Mt. Sac Relays, while the multis group wrapped up their two days of competition Thursday evening.
It was an early start for Tech as the 10k got off to a 7 a.m. PT start. Luke Estes paced the way for the Red Raiders placing 17th with a new PR of 30:59.64. Meanwhile in his first collegiate race in the event, Bryce Boggs finished 20th with a time of 31:03.78. Eric Maclean rounded out the top 30 clocking in a mark of 31:19.84. About an hour later, Samuel Ashley ran in the 5k, crossing the end line at 14:49.94, a new PR time.
In the decathlon, newcomer Denim Rogers wrapped up his two-day stint in the decathlon with 7,414 points as he finished ninth overall. That point total puts him sixth all-time in Tech history in the event. Gary Haasbroek did not start in the final event (1500).
The final running events of the night are set to take place at 8:15 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. PT. Edward Rush followed by Halena Rahmaan are set to go in the 5k.
Friday morning in California gets underway with Brya Brewer in the triple jump while the field events get the Tom Jones Memorial underway in Florida at 2 p.m. ET.

Later in the evening, the women's heptathlon wrapped up with Callie Jones and Aria Tate placing 11th (5,369 points) and 12th (5,339 points), respectively.
