The Red Raiders return home next weekend to end the regular season
WACO, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team wrapped up the two-day Michael Johnson Invitational Saturday afternoon registering some solid performances.
One of the highlights of the final day of the meet was Tech women's "A" team turning in a first-place finish in the 4x100, beating out the pro team, Hurdle Mechanic. The team of Virginia Kerley, Kiah Dubarry-Gay, Aneesa Scott and Rosemary Chukwuma clocked in at 43.22. That time became the third on Tech's all-time top 10 list. Chukwuma ran a great anchor leg, edging out Ashley Henderson in a tough win – Hurdle Mechanic registered at 43.25.
TTU's second first place outing was delivered by Thomas Velvin in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 9:31.30. Over in the field events, Chloe Wall led the Red Raiders in the pole vault finishing second overall but first out of the collegiate group at a height of 4.17m (13-8.25). Jalen Seals produced a similar result but in the triple jump. The senior landed in the pit at 15.97m (54-4.75) (5.1w) to finish first among the collegiate athletes.

In the women's shot put, Kayli Johnson (16.46m, 54-0) and Malin Smith (16.38m, 53-9) finished fourth and fifth, respectively – new PR for Smith. Jacolby Shelton matched his PR of 10.21 in the 100 finishing third, while Michaela Lewis clocked in at 2:05.61 for third in the 800.
