The Red Raiders fell 7-0 Sunday
AUSTIN -- The Texas Tech men's tennis team fell 7-0 to No. 11 Texas Sunday afternoon at the Texas Tennis Center.
In defeat, Texas Tech (13-9, 0-2 Big 12) got a strong performance from junior Dimitrios Azoidis, who shook off a tough 9-7 tiebreaker setback in the opening set to force a 10-point third set. In the third set, Azoidis fell 10-8.
Tech struggled to find momentum against the 11th-ranked Longhorns (12-8, 1-1 Big 12), as the Longhorns swept a pair of doubles matches, including a 6-4 decision over Reed Collier and Olle Wallin.
Wallin made just his third appearance in doubles play this season, and his first with Reed Collier as his partner.
Ilgiz Valiev and Azoidis also fell Sunday in doubles, dropping a 6-3 decision to No. 58 Spizzirri/Woldeab of Texas.
In singles play, Tech managed just the one set victory by Azoidis, as the other five matches ended in straight sets.
