
Texas Tech men wrap up regionals meet

Day four and final day starts Saturday at 1 p.m. with the women’s discus
Caleb Wilborn was the first Red Raider to secure a spot in next month's NCAA Championships meet. In the high jump, Wilborn soared over the bar at 2.18m (7-1.75) for a new outdoor personal best. His mark put him seventh overall as everyone ahead him also stopped at 2.18m.
About 45 minutes later, the 4x100 team of Adam Clayton, Courtney Lindsey, Ashton O'Conner and Jacolby Shelton produced a time of 38.82 to secure another spot for Tech. Running in the second heat, Shelton took the final exchange from O'Conner and pulled away from Baylor and TCU for the win. Over in the 100m, two Red Raiders escaped their heats in the top 3, automatically qualifying for Eugene. Terrence Jones, Jr., went 10.03 (+0.7) in his heat, finishing second, but posted the third-best overall time. In Tech history, it's the fifth-fastest mark and he becomes the second-fastest sprinter in program history behind Divine Oduduru. Lindsey also qualified for the 100m, posting a time of 10.11 (+2.3) – sixth overall.3?8?.8?2?

Lindsey's night though, was not over as he also punched his ticket in the 200m with a personal best 20.15 (+0.0) – tied ninth in Tech history.
Chris Welch and Jalen Seals continued to represent the jumps crew in excellent fashion this week. On his first attempt, Welch leaped a personal best 16.46m (54-0) to place fourth overall. Meanwhile, Seals jumped 16.11m (52-10.25) to finish seventh.Messed around and got a double @GodSpeedddd with a 200m PB of 20.15 (+0.0). He heads to Oregon racing in the 100m & 200m

Malik Metivier posted a new personal best in the 400 hurdles with a time of 48.98 – fourth all-time in Tech history and third time to be sub 49. In Canadian history, it goes down as the second-fastest all-time mark – he owns the No. 3 time. It's the first sub 49 Canadian time since 2007.
