The junior scored the first points for Tech placing 6th in the long jump
EUGENE, Ore. – The Texas Tech men's track and field team completed day one of the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships Wednesday evening at Hayward Field.

Zaid Latif highlighted the day for Tech as he finished sixth in the long jump leaping 7.89m (25-10 ¾), which came on his second attempt. The top 8 finish gives him First Team all-American honors. Latif was the first Red Raider to compete at nationals in the long jump since 2019.

In the running events, Titus Kimaru punched his ticket to Friday's final in the 3k steeplechase as he placed third in his heat, grabbing the auto qualifier with a time of 8:27.17. Over in the pole vault, Jackson Bragg wrapped up his freshman campaign in 16th clearing 5.35m (176-1 ½).

Notables
· The men's 4x100 kicked off the meet for Tech as they placed 12th overall at 38.89
· The 4x400 capped off the night in 14th with a time of 3:03.15
