Men finish 4th, women 9th at Joe Piane Invite

Tech closes out the regular season at the Arturo Barrios meet Oct. 15
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Texas Tech men's cross country team turned in a fourth-place finish as the women's side placed ninth at the Joe Piane Invite Friday afternoon on the campus of Notre Dame.
The men scored 142 points in the Gold 5-Mile run. Meanwhile, the women registered 248 points in the Gold 5k.
"Solid outing for both teams," said head cross country coach Jon Murray. "It was great to see different teams than we normally see. We were able to see where we are right now in our training and the process of developing continues."
For a second-straight meet, Edward Rush led the men's side, while Halena Rahmaan paced the women's team for the Red Raiders.
Rahmaan finished inside the top 20 coming in 18th (17:39.0) for Tech's first points. Freshman Hannah Spears turned in a time of 18:18.20 (47th) as Adele Clarke came in at 18:23.50 (51st). Taylor Limbaugh (18:37.50) and Cassandra O'Pry (18:44.80) rounded out the scoring, placing 67th and 73rd, respectively.
Spears and Clarke each finished in the top 10 of all freshman runners.

Tech will have one more meet before heading into the post season, traveling to Texas A&M for the Arturo Barrios Invite on Oct, 15.

Rush turned in a 5-mile PB of 24:36.80, crossing the end line ninth overall. Newcomer Matthew Maki was next to score coming in 16th (24:51.40) as freshman Trey Leathers placed 30th (25:12.10) to round out the top 30 runners.
