Red Raider Open set for Friday morning

Texas Tech sprinters set two NCAA season-top times last weekend.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team will host one of the most competitive meets in the nation Friday morning inside the Sports Performance Center with the one-day Red Raider Open meet.
The full meet schedule can be viewed HERE.
Including Tech, nine Power 5 teams will duke it out in search of top national times as well as collegiate all-time marks.

The Red Raiders shook off the rust last weekend in the season-opener. Two school records were broken by Rosemary Chukwuma and Demisha Roswell. Chukwuma posted an NCAA atop time of 7.11 in her first 60m run and posted a 7.13 to win the final. Meanwhile, Roswell opened her 60m hurdles run with an 8.11 before going 7.99 in her finals run to claim first.
Wednesday afternoon, Chukwuma and Lindsey were named the Big 12 Athletes of the Week.

The first installment of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) team rankings are set to come out on Monday, Jan. 23.
On The Lookout
A few sprinters on the men's side will look to debut including Don'Dre Swint, and Ashton O'Conner in the 60m. In the women's triple jump, Brya Brewer will look to make her triple jump debut while Edward Rush makes his season debut in the mile. Big 12 Champion, Sidney Sapp also is posied too make her 2023 debut.

Over on the men's side, Courtney Lindsey ran an NCAA top mark of 20.41 in the 200m to kick off his year. He also ran the 60m twice, finishing third in the finals with a time of 6.62. Pole vaulter Zach Bradford made his Tech debut in grand fashion.
