With the victory, Texas Tech (15-4, 3-3 Big 12) has now recorded a win over UT in three consecutive seasons for just the fourth time in program history, while Coach Krista Gerlich joined her mentor Marsha Sharp and Kristy Curry as the only three head coaches in Tech history to defeat UT in three straight years.
As has been the key all season long, Tech won the points in the paint, 24-22. The Lady Raiders are now 14-0 when holding teams to under 30 points in the paint.
Another key stat on Wednesday came in free-throws. Tech shot 22-of-30 while UT shot just 2-of-6. Tech improved to 6-0 when hitting 20+ free throws and have now made 20 in back-to-back games.
In the end, Tech did not trail over the final 29:26 of play. UT's final lead of the ballgame came with 9:35 to go in the second.

LOCKING DOWN THE 3-PT ARC:
• Tech has done a great job of defending the 3-point arc this season. Teams are shooting just 30.3 percent from distance against the Lady Raiders. In particular, the Lady Raiders have done a great job recently. Other than last Saturday's game at TCU where the Horned Frogs shot 10-of-21 from distance, Tech's opponents have not made double-figure threes since Middle Tennessee back on Nov. 25. Tech held OU's potent 3-point attack to just 8-of-24 from distance. In fact, the Sooners were just 6-of-22 after making their first two attempts. K-State shot just 7-of-30 against the Lady Raiders on Saturday. UT was just 6-of-23 on Wednesday marking the fifth time in six Big 12 games that Tech has held an opponent under 33.3 percent
WE MUST PROTECT THIS HOUSE:
• The Lady Raiders are a perfect 14-0 this season when holding teams to under 30 points in the paint and 15-0 when holding teams to 32 or less in a game. On Wednesday, OU scored 42 points in the paint, the most Tech has allowed in a game this season. The Lady Raiders allowed 34 points in the paint against JSU, 38 points in the paint against ISU and a season-high 44 against KU. For the season, opponents are scoring just 24.2/game inside the paint. Tech has outscored its opponents 532-464 in the paint.
TOUGH SCHEDULE TO START BIG 12 PLAY:
• After opening up with the preseason favorites and top-ranked team in the Big 12 (Iowa State), Tech traveled to No. 21 KU, the team with the best overall record in the Big 12. The Lady Raiders faced their third ranked opponent in the first four games when No. 19 Oklahoma came to town. The first four home games for the Lady Raiders will be against the top-four team in the Big 12 Preseason poll. Tech hosts preseason No. 3 UT on Wednesday before hosting Baylor on Jan. 28. The Lady Raiders are also in stretch of three straight ranked home opponents. The span began on Dec. 31 when Iowa State came to town continued vs. OU on Jan. 11 and closed with Texas on Jan. 18.
CHARITY WORK PAYS OFF:
The Lady Raiders are a perfect 6-0 this season when making at least 20 free throws. All three of Tech's victories in conference play have featured 20+ made free throws. Four Lady Raiders are shooting better than 80 percent from the line led by Bailey Maupin's 55-of-60 shooting (91.7). Bryn Gerlich is next at 36-of44 (81.8 percent) followed by Bre Scott's 96-of-115 (83.5). Jazz Shavers is the final Lady Raider over 82 percent at 36-of-43 (83.7 percent).
UP NEXT:
The Lady Raiders return to action next Saturday (Jan. 28) when Baylor comes to town for Alumna weekend. Tip-off from United Supermarkets Arena is set for 2 p.m.
