Tech jumps up one spot to finish 13th at Medinah

Texas Tech places 13 at the Women's Invitational at Medinah, hosted by Illinois
MEDINAH, Ill. – The Texas Tech women's golf program concluded the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah in 13th place on Tuesday, propelled by sophomore Shannon Tan's Red Raider third-round low score of 2-under-par 70.
Tan jumped up 14 spots on the leaderboard with her sub-par round after she got off to a fast start in the final round. Tan birdied twice in her first five holes, setting her up to finish 3-over-par for the tournament and tied for 37th.
This was Tan's first tournament since Sept. 12 due to her playing in the KLPGA tournament a couple of weeks ago.
Senior Gala Dumez matched Tan's 54-hole score, also finishing with a 3-over-par and tied for 37th. Dumez started quickly, firing a birdie on her first hole of the day. She would go on to shoot a 1-over-par 73 in Tuesday's final round.
After an up-and-down Monday posting scores of 2-under-par 70 and a 6-over-par 78, freshman Maja Ambroziak started with a bogey on her first hole of the third round but quickly rebounded by firing a pair of birdies over her next seven holes.
Ambroziak would go on to shoot 3-over on the final nine holes and finish tied for 47th, just three shots behind Dumez and Tan.
As a team, the Red Raiders shot 29-over-par.
LSU (-27) continued their dominance and finished first, nine shots ahead of second place Ole Miss (-18). Northwestern (-14) finished third after dropping a spot in the final round, with San Jose State (-10) rounding out the top four.

The Red Raiders will close their fall slate when they head to San Marcos to play in the Jim West Challenge, hosted by Texas State. The two-day tournament will start Oct. 22 and conclude Oct. 23.
