Tech heading to Cincinnati for Wednesday match

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders travel to Ohio for a mid-week match against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. at Fifth Third Arena.
Tech (8-14, 1-9 Big 12) recently hosted no. 22-ranked Houston for two matches at the United Supermarkets Arena last weekend as the Cougars won both contests in three.
On the offensive side of the ball, graduate senior Caitlin Dugan leads the Red Raiders in kills with 254, followed by sophomore Brynn Williams with 244 of her own. Senior Reese Rhodes leads the team with 540 assists, while freshmen Abby Dickinson and Kate Hansen post a team-best 15 aces apiece. Defensively, junior Maddie Correa leads the team with 292 digs and Hansen boasts almost 100 total blocks as she now has 99.9.
Hansen currently ranks tied for 26th in the nation with 99.0 total blocks. She is also third in the Big 12 in total blocks. In addition, she ranks 45th with 1.27 blocks per set. As a team, the Red Raiders are tied for 31st with 202.0 total blocks, and only behind TCU and BYU in the conference rankings.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
This will be the first time in program history that the Red Raiders and Bearcats will face one another. Cincinnati is 10-9 on the season and 3-6 in conference play, picking up wins against Kansas State, TCU and West Virginia. As a team, the Bearcats total 953 kills, 904 assists, 107 aces, 1,137 digs and 174.0 blocks.
Offensively, Abby Walker leads the Bearcats with 177 kills, while Zeta Washington follows with 170. Katelyn Lefler leads the team with 714 assists and Jadyn Bauss leads with 21 aces. On the defensive end, Carly Skrabak posts a team-best 308 digs and Ligia Williams has a team-leading 75.0 blocks.
