Red Raiders travel to Ames for Big 12 Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech cross country team travels to Ames, Iowa for the 2023 Big 12 championship taking place at the ISU Cross Country Course Saturday morning.

Last Time Out
The Red Raiders final "tune-up" race before the conference meet was nearly two weeks ago in College Station at the Arturo Barrios Invite. Tech recorded 18 personal best times highlighted by Juliet Cherubet winning the women's 6k race with a time of 19:20.70 – her second-straight meet win. Meanwhile, on the men's side, Vincent Koech (23:21.30) and Gideon Kiplimo (23:22.90) led the way recording a 7-8 finish.

Notables

Cherubet has won two-straight meets entering Saturday's race.
In two 8k races this season, Koech has not finished outside the top-7, placing as high as 2^nd – Gans Creek Invitational.
In two 8k races this season, Kiplimo has not finished outside the top-8, finishing as high as 3^rd – Gans Creek Invitational.
Tech won its first Big 12 cross country championship (women) at the ISU Course in 2008. It would begin a string of three-straight titles.
