
Red Raiders face No. 25 Iowa State on the road

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders have a quick turnaround as the team travels to Ames, Iowa for a matchup against the No. 25 Iowa State Cyclones on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum.
The Red Raiders (8-9, 1-4 Big 12) are coming off a loss to the UCF Knights, who are receiving votes in the AVCA poll, at the United Supermarkets Arena last night. Graduate Caitlin Dugan had a phenomenal night on offense after collecting 14 kills on 23 attacks for a .522 hitting percentage.
On the season, the Red Raiders total 781 kills, 11.7 kills per set, 710 assists, 68 aces, 1,020 digs, 15.2 digs per set and 161.0 blocks. Offensively, Dugan leads the team with 210 kills, Reese Rhodes leads with 417 assists, while two freshmen – Abby Dickinson and Kate Hansen – lead with 11 aces apiece. On defense, Maddie Correa posts a team-best 248 digs and Hansen has a team-high 81.0 blocks.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Cyclones are ranked 25th in the nation and lead the all-time series against Tech, 32-25. ISU is also on a two-match win streak after taking both matches over the Red Raiders last season. Iowa State is 12-3 on the year and 3-1 in Big 12, picking up wins against Arizona, Grand Canyon, Iowa and No. 18 Baylor. The Cyclones' three losses were against the Bears, UC-Santa Barbara and No. 16 Creighton.
As a team, Iowa State totals 745 kills, 13.5 kills per set, a .262 hitting percentage, 672 assists, 78 aces, 777 digs and 131.0 blocks. Two Cyclones boast over 100 kills in Nayeli Gonzalez (162) and Maya Duckworth (136). Gonzalez was most recently named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week after collecting 34 kills on a .475 hitting clip against Baylor last week. Defensively, Brooke Stonestreet leads with 245 digs and Jordan Hopp has a team-best 53.0 blocks.
