Following a few unexpected days off, Texas Tech will be back on the diamond Friday and host a doubleheader on Saturday to get its three-game series in versus North Dakota State. Inclement weather in the Lubbock area forced its Tuesday contest versus Abilene Christian to be shifted to May 9 while this series was originally planned to begin on Thursday. The Fargo area, where NDSU is located, experienced blizzard conditions that impeded the ability to travel to Lubbock on Wednesday and pushed travel plans to Thursday for an NDSU team scheduled to play its 28th-straight game away from home on Friday.
Coverage will be provided via Big 12 Now on ESPN+. John Harris will be on the mic for play-by-play duties while former Red Raider baseball player Mike Gustafson will provide the analysis for all three games. All broadcasts can be accessed from any desktop or laptop computer, personal cellular device and television streaming services using the ESPN app. Registration for the subscription service can be found at ESPNPlus.com.
Texas Tech Sports Network will also broadcast the game over 46 affiliates throughout the state of Texas and New Mexico as well as on the web via the Varsity App. Geoff Haxton will have the call alongside Jamie Lent for each contest over the weekend.

A BREAK FROM BIG 12 PLAY
Texas Tech enters a stretch of five consecutive nonconference games, taking a break from Big 12 play until a road trip to Oklahoma, April 14-16. Texas Tech, who was picked to finish third in the 2023 Big 12 Preseason Poll, is off to a solid start having won two of its first two Big 12 series in Lubbock this season against preseason No. 1 TCU and preseason No. 2 Oklahoma State. Despite that success, the Red Raiders remain 4-5 in league play with its series loss to preseason choice No. 4 Texas. Tech's next Big 12 series, at Oklahoma, is the No. 5 team in the preseason poll.
CAREER WIN No. 400 ON THE HORIZON
The countdown to Texas Tech career win No. 400 is down to one for head coach Tim Tadlock (399). The Red Raiders' skipper is poised to be the second head coach in Texas Tech history to reach that milestone. He is already the second-winningest Texas Tech coach behind all-timer Larry Hays (813-479-3). Tadlock is currently one of three coaches to achieve 300 or more wins as the Red Raiders head coach.
BIG 12 NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Texas Tech's Gage Harrelson was selected as the Big 12 Baseball Newcomer of the Week, announced by the league on Monday. The award covers the Red Raiders' four games played, March 28-April 2, and is voted upon by a select group of media members. It is the first career weekly award for the Texas Tech freshman, Harrelson. In four games, one at New Mexico and three against TCU, Harrelson hit .500 from the plate going 11-for-22 with one double, one triple, five runs scored and five RBIs. Harrelson produced multiple hits in all four games he played during the week.
THREE ON 2023 OPENING DAY ROSTERS
Former Texas Tech pitchers Parker Mushinski (Houston Astros) and Danny Coulombe (Baltimore), and 2019 first-round draft choice Josh Jung (Texas Rangers) were named to respective 2023 MLB Opening Day rosters.
Pitchers Mushinski (Houston Astros), Caleb Kilian (Chicago Cubs), Davis Martin (Chicago White Sox), plus infielder Jung (Texas Rangers) made their respective MLB debuts last season, therefore, Kilian and Martin could be back in the show at any time. Mushinski made his debut in a reliever role on April 17 against Seattle, Martin started at Kansas City on May 17 while Kilian on June 4 in a start versus St. Louis. Jung saw his first action on Sept. 9 and connected for a home run on his first career MLB at-bat versus the Toronto Blue Jays.
