Cross country set to host TTU Open

Friday’s meet marks the second of the regular season for Tech
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech cross country is back in action for its second regular season meet hosting the TTU Open Friday morning at the LCU Cross Country Course.

The Red Raiders opened the 2023 season almost two weeks ago in Cheyenne, Wyo., as part of the Wyoming Open with each of the men and women teams taking third. The women were the first to kickoff the 5k meet as two newcomers paced the way placing in the top-4. Juliet Cherubet finished second overall with a time of 17:55.8 while Anastasia Chepkorir placed fourth crossing at 18:13.1.

The Course
This will be the third race in less than one year for the Red Raiders on the LCU Course. Besides the annual TTU Open, last season the course was the site of the Big 12 Championships, and it will be home to the NCAA Mountain Regional race on Nov. 10.

Tech will send a select group of runners to Hobbs, N.M., for the MNJC Invite next week (Sept.22).
