Red Raiders wrap up TTU Open

The women placed four runners in the top-17
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech cross country program concluded the TTU open as the women's side placed second while the men's team took fourth overall, Friday morning at the LCU Cross Country Course.

"The meet was a solid performance in some difficult conditions," head cross country coach Jon Murray said. "We were able to see some areas we can improve and will be motivated to keep working hard these next few weeks."

Scoring a total of 62 points, the women scored each runner inside the top-17, paced by newcomer Lily Mather in eighth with a time of 23:18.30. Taylor Limbaugh was right behind her in 10th (23:25.0), Melanie Jacobs finished 12th (23:44.50), Hannah Spears 15th (24:00.50) as freshman Jenna Carter in her first collegiate 6k race, rounded out the scoring coming in 17th (24:08.50). Jacobs' time was a new personal best (PB).

The Red Raiders next time on the LCU Cross Country Course will be on Nov. 10 as Tech hosts its first NCAA Mountain Regional.

Gideon Kiplimo made his Red Raider debut leading the way for the men's side placing third with a time of 25:14.50. Meanwhile, sophomore Isaac Hernandez recorded his first collegiate top-10 cross country finish placing 10th (25:32.20). Trey Leathers (26:21.20) and Daniel Mendez (26:25.70) finished right on each other's heels at 24th and 25th, respectively.
