CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders were able to win the doubles point, but the No. 11-ranked Virginia Cavaliers took the match by a 4-1 score in the first round of ITA Kickoff Weekend at the Boar's Head Sports Club on Friday afternoon.
In doubles, the Lady Raiders (1-1) were on a roll and never looked back against the Cavaliers (5-0). At court three, the duo of Andreea Lila and Jermine Sherif only gave up one game to Annabelle Xu and Sara Ziodato as they earned a 6-1 win.
At the top court, the No. 5-ranked tandem of Metka Komac and Avelina Sayfetdinova posted their first dual win of the season when they defeated Melodie Collard and Elaine Chervinsky to clinch the doubles points for Tech, 6-4.
