The Red Raiders return to the USA to face No. 8 Kansas on Wednesday and UCF on Saturday
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball (11-10, 3-6) has a tough home task on Wednesday as they take on No. 8 Kansas (18-1, 9-0) following two impressive road wins against Cincinnati and West Virginia last weekend. The Red Raiders will host the Jayhawks at 6 p.m. in the United Supermarkets Arena and then face UCF (8-9, 1-7) on Saturday at 1 p.m. as part of the program's alumni weekend.
Kansas came to Lubbock last season and split the series with Tech after the Red Raiders upset the Jayhawks in five sets before dropping the next match in straight sets. Tech is 19-38 all time against Kansas and 0-11 all time against opponents ranked No. 8.
UCF currently sits last in the Big 12 standings following a tough stretch of play. The Knights, however, defeated Tech 3-0 in Lubbock last year and hold the series record 2-1.
PREVIOUSLY IN TEXAS TECH VOLLEYBALL:
The Red Raiders used all 10 possible sets to come away with two wins this past weekend. After going down 2-1 to the Bearcats, Tech was able to win the next two sets to comeback and steal a win.
Against the Mountaineers, Tech took a commanding 2-0 lead before West Virginia retaliated to even the match at 2-2. The Red Raiders were able to stave off the reverse sweep, however, thanks to timely points and aggression from the service line.
