
Lady Raiders host New Orleans on Saturday

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders continue play at home with a contest against the New Orleans Privateers on Saturday, November 23 at 2 p.m. in the United Supermarkets Arena. New Orleans leads the all-time series against Texas Tech with a 2-1 record - playing a couple times in the 80s as well as last playing in 2012. On November 25, 2012, the Lady Raiders would beat the Privateers by a score of 81-38.
Texas Tech is coming off a 66-40 victory against Abilene Christian, where junior Adlee Blacklock led the team with 23 points. Junior Jasmine Shavers had one of her most productive games of this early season against the Wildcats. Though she did not have a double-figure point performance, she still totaled eight points while leading the team in three categoÂries - rebounds (8), steals (5) and assists (5).
Blacklock had herself a career night against Abilene Christian, totaling a career-best 23 points and six 3-pointers. She is currently 11-for-28 (.393) from behind the arc and her 23 points marks the second time of her career scoring 20 or more points as well as the second time this season scoring in double figures. Blacklock is also one of three Big 12 players to make 6 or more 3-pointers in a game this season and ranks tied for ninth in conference with 11 made.
The Lady Raiders currently average 6.8 blocks per game, which ranks ninth nationally and third in the Big 12. Junior Sarengbe Sanogo averages 3.6 blocks per game, leading the team in that category, while ranking fifth nationally and second in conference in blocks per game. She also ranks third in the nation and second in the Big 12 with 18 total blocks. She has recorded three-straight games with 4-plus blocks, including a six-block night on Tuesday. The last time a Lady Raider posted 4 or more blocks three games in a row was Brittany Brewer from Feb. 18-26, 2020, when she had five, seven and five.
The Lady Raiders are only allowing opponents 49.6 points per game, ranking 20th in the country and third in the Big 12 in that category. Tech is also forcing 23.2 turnovers per game and holds a turnover margin of 5.60, which rank 41st and 64th in the NCAA, respectively.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The New Orleans Privateers are 0-4 on the season, with losses to No. 24 Alabama, TCU, Tarleton and South Alabama. As a team, the Privateers are averaging 52.5 points per game and are shooting 31.4 percent from the field. New Orleans is averaging 35.8 rebounds per game, forcing 20.3 turnovers per game and totaling 10.8 steals per game. The Privateers are led in scoring by Jayla Kimbrough who averages 12.0 points per game. Alexis Calderon is just behind with 8.5 points per game, followed by Nora Francois with 7.3. Leading the team in rebounding is Francois with 6.5 boards per game as well as Kimbrough with 5.8.
