No. 5 Texas up next for Lady Raiders

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders have another tough road game ahead of them as they travel to Austin, Texas to take on the No. 5-ranked Texas Longhorns on Wednesday, February 21 at 7 p.m. at the Moody Center.
Texas Tech (16-11, 5-9 Big 12) is currently led in scoring by both Jasmine Shavers and Bailey Maupin, who total 14.4 and 13.6 points per game, respectively. On the rebounding side, Kilah Freelon leads the Lady Raiders with 5.7 per game, followed by Jordyn Merritt with 5.6 and Shavers with 5.1.
As a team, the Lady Raiders are holding opponents to just 61.2 points per game and a .295 three-point percentage. Tech is also shooting .769 from the free-throw line and is averaging 14.07 free throws per game. In addition, the defense is forcing 19.15 turnovers per game and an average of 17.81 in conference play.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The No. 5 Texas Longhorns are coming into the game with a 24-3 overall record and an 11-3 record in conference play. Texas is currently on a six-game win streak after picking up victories over Iowa State, Houston, TCU, No. 2 Kansas State, No. 13 Baylor and Cincinnati. Their three losses were at the hands of Oklahoma (87-91), Kansas State (58-61) and Baylor (79-85). The Longhorns are ranked top-10 nationally in six different categories, highlighted by a third-ranked scoring margin (25.5), eighth-ranked scoring offense (82.9ppg) and a fifth-ranked field goal percentage (.501). The Longhorns have four players averaging double-figure scoring led by Madison Booker (15.9), Taylor Jones (12.6) and Aaliyah Moore (10.7). There are three players who also total five or more rebounds a game as Jones leads the Horns with 7.3, followed by Moore with 5.6.
