Red Raiders host Masked Rider Open this weekend

The Masked Rider marks the second outdoor meet of the season for Tech
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team hosts its first home outdoor meet of the season Friday and Saturday at the Fuller Track and Field Complex.
Meet Coverage
Friday will only be a throws portion of the meet with the javelin, hammer throw and shot put beginning at Noon on a rolling schedule. The throws filed can be located right off 4th street next to the National Ranching Heritage Center (3121 4th St, Lubbock, TX 79409). All throwing events will take place here.
Saturday the first running event for the Red Raiders begin at 9:20 a.m. with the 5000m run. The first throws event will be the discus at 12:30 p.m.
Last Time Out
Tech opened the outdoor season last weekend in Abilene competing in the Wes Kittley Invite. The meet was an opener for a majority of throwers who have not competed all year, for example the discus and javelin athletes. Coming off two-straight Big 12 discus titles, Devin Roberson opened the year with a throw of 58.95m (193-5), taking first.
Highly touted javelin throwers coming out of high school, Leah Howard and Kyeese Hollands made their Red Raider debut in the event. Howard placed first with a throw of 46.50m (152-7), while Hollands finished in second at 46.05m (151-1).
In The Know
A few of the sprinters from the men's side will look to go in the 4x100 Saturday. Antoine Andrews, Josh Bour, Shawn Brown, and Carl Hicks are a few who competed at the NCAA indoor meet slated to run.
On the distance side, Big 12 indoor 5k champion Ernest Cheruiyot is set to give the 1,500m a go. Four pole vaulters on the women's side – Kaitlyn Banas, Olivia Cade, Kashlee Dickinson and Mackenzie Hayward will vault Saturday afternoon.
Stacy Brown Jr. and Nzube Ihezue will represent Tech in the men's long jump.
