North Texas will host 12 teams for the 2024 edition of The Bruzzy and the second-straight season hosted at Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club in Ardmore, Okla.
The Bruzzy started in 2018, Texas Tech has played in every Bruzzy since its inception. The Red Raiders' best finish at The Bruzzy is second place in 2021. In the inaugural tournament, Tech finished eighth in 2018, then third in 2019, there was no tournament in 2020, in 2022 the Red Raiders finished 12th and last year placed fourth out of 15.
The Bruzzy team title history: 2023 – UNT (+16, Dornick Hills); 2022 – Baylor (-21, Waterchase Golf Club); 2021 - Oklahoma State (-15, Lantana Golf Club); 2020 - Canceled; 2019 - Baylor (-10, Lantana Golf Club); 2018 - Texas A&M (+43, Maridoe Golf Club)
The course: Established in 1914, Dornick Hills has long been recognized as one of the most historically significant golf courses in the region. On what began as Perry Maxwell's dairy farm, the noted course architect developed the property into a challenging and beautiful 18-hole golf course. Dornick Hills is proud to be known as 'The Home of Perry Maxwell' and continues to offer a variety of amenities for its members.
Of the 13 teams competing at The Bruzzy, three are ranked inside the SCOREBOARD Top 50, while four more rank just outside the Top 50 between 50-60, which includes No. 55 Texas Tech.
The Bruzzy marks Texas Tech's first event in over a calendar month having last played in Houston, Feb. 27-28. It will be the fourth event of the 2024 spring season and the second to last event before Tech takes on the Big 12 Championships, April 18-20.
